# About — Gifts for Boss

Gifts for Boss is a single-subject site about gifts given upward at work. It exists because a gift to a manager is the one gifting category with a professional cost to getting it wrong: it can read as flattery, it can sit awkwardly with colleagues, or it can run into a policy nobody mentioned until afterwards. Most gift lists ignore all three and recommend whatever converts.

So we start at the etiquette and work back to the object. Every guide names the case it is written for — individual, group, retirement, Boss’s Day — because the occasion decides the shape of the gift long before any product does. Where a question turns on money or on what a manager may accept, we say what is actually true: it depends on your employer’s gift policy, and that is the document to read.
